Learning outcomes
PRN 8. Know and understand the language system, general properties of literature as art of words, history of Arabic/ of Hindi/ Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in the professional activity PRN 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Arabic/Hindi/ Persian fiction and oral folk creativity, to define them specificity and place in literature process of Arab countries/ India/ Iran and of Ukraine. PRN 16. Know and understand the main ones concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen one philological specialization, to be able to apply them in professional activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course: "Ancient Literature". Knowledge of theoretical foundations: literary studies, ancient literature and ancient literature of the East, school curriculum on foreign literature. Possession of the basic toolkit of artistic text analysis. Ability: to carry out a basic literary analysis of an artistic text, to distinguish literary eras, trends, styles and phenomena.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the features of modern and new literary phenomena of the literary process from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 21st century, cultural-historical, social and artistic-aesthetic factors that mediate these processes in their theoretical and methodological connections with the history of foreign literature, history and literature of the countries of the Middle and Far East, Oriental studies and a range of Oriental studies topics, literary studies and partly translation studies, deepening of the skills of literary and critical analysis already acquired during the Ancient Literature course, expanded ability to interpret artistic texts with expressive Oriental studies, multicultural and transcultural components, as well as apply the cultural and aesthetic potential of the acquired body of knowledge, skills and abilities in further professional philological activities.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and seminars. Independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester (max 60 points): answers to seminars, essays, tests and a glossary of terms. Exam (max 40 points): written work with a theoretical question and text analysis. Criteria: 36 points are required for admission. A positive exam score of 24 points or more. The total minimum for the course is 60 points.
