Learning outcomes
PLO6. Use information and communication technologies, particularly to solve complex specialized tasks and problems in professional practice. 
PLO11. Understand the principles, techniques, and methods for creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in Russian. 
PLO14. Use the Russian language in spoken and written form, in various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life. PLO17. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret facts about language and speech; interpret and accurately translate (from Russian into the native language and vice versa) spoken and written texts of various styles and genres. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the theoretical and practical Russian language courses taught in previous semesters. 2. Knowledge of the characteristics of the Russian lexical and grammatical systems. 3. Knowledge of the main approaches to text analysis and methods of translating texts from the student’s native language into Russian. 4. Ability to analyze a text, select an appropriate translation method; identify and correct lexical, grammatical, and stylistic errors; and overcome “non-equivalence” when translating unique grammatical constructions and idiomatic expressions. 5. Proficiency in using translation, explanatory, and other dictionaries, as well as in searching for necessary information in various types of sources.
Course content
The purpose of the internship is to develop the professional skills and competencies necessary for working as a translator; to develop practical skills and competencies in written translation; to master the fundamentals of translation; to develop professional competencies in translation practice based on acquired theoretical knowledge; to recognize the professional significance of this knowledge; to gain practical mastery of the fundamentals of written translation and to improve overall proficiency in the Russian language. The internship takes place in two stages, in the sixth and seventh semesters, and lasts 6 weeks (2 and 4 weeks, respectively). During the translation internship, students must complete written translations from their native language into Russian of texts on general and specialized topics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Independent student work. Individual consultations with the internship supervisor. Instructional-practical method. Analysis of source material for translation, pre-translation text analysis; written translation, translation quality analysis, translation editing.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written translation, report, presentation. The assessment criteria for translation practice are: the student’s general linguistic training and their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice; the quality of the translation (accuracy, appropriateness, completeness, and editing); the presence of spelling, grammatical, and stylistic errors; the use of dictionaries and reference materials to understand the source text and accurately convey its meaning; the presentation of translation results; and the correct and timely submission of practice reports. Specific assessment criteria are outlined in the course syllabus.
