Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: 1) the terminology of key concepts in modern Turkology; 2) the systematic structure of the modern Turkish language (phonetics, morphology, syntax, and vocabulary); 3) the principles and methodology of translation from Turkish. Be able to: 1) use specialized philological terminology in the field of Turkology in Ukrainian and Turkish; 2) independently analyze linguistic phenomena and determine their nature and specific functions; 3) conduct translation, stylistic, and literary analyses of various texts in Turkish. Master: 1) issues related to the history of the Turkish language and the literary process in Turkey; 2) the skills to formulate one’s own oral response competently and clearly, to express one’s point of view on a given issue in Turkish in a reasoned manner, and to participate in discussions/debates.
Course content
The comprehensive professional test is conducted to identify the professional knowledge, skills and abilities of graduates who have reached the appropriate professional level necessary for further professional activities as philologists and translators of the Turkish language and literature during their studies. Assessment methods and criteria
The exam paper offers the student a task in language and literature, namely: the theoretical aspect of the modern Turkish language; the history of Turkish literature; translation of a text from Ukrainian into Turkish. There is also a conversation topic on the test paper. The maximum number of points a graduate can score is 100. Answers to the proposed tasks are evaluated by the following points: 1. Modern Turkish (theoretical aspects): 15 - 25 points. 2. History of Turkish literature: 15 - 25 points. 3. Translation of a text from Ukrainian into Turkish with a dictionary: 15 - 25 points. 4. Conversational topic: 15 - 25 points.
