Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge:
1) Successful mastery of specialized subjects during previous semesters;
2) The basic principles of analysis and criteria for evaluating the source text, as well as lexical-grammatical, syntactic, and stylistic issues in translation.
Be able to:
1) apply the phonetic rules, grammatical structures, and syntactic rules of the Turkish language in practice.
Possess:
1) skills in interpreting.
Course content
The course «Turkish-Ukrainian Audiovisual Translation» is one of the components of the comprehensive training program in the field of study 035 «Philology», major «Turkish Language and Literature, Western European Language and Translation», and an integral part of developing the professional competence of future translators and specialists in the field of the Turkish language. The course is aimed at an in-depth study of audiovisual translation methods and the development of professional competence in future translators. During the course, students study the methodology of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of audiovisual texts and improve their shorthand skills. The course is designed to equip future specialists with the necessary skills and abilities for audiovisual translation and to expand their vocabulary.
The course «Turkish-Ukrainian Audiovisual Translation» is an independent elective component of the educational and research program «Turkish Language and Literature, Western European Language and Translation», with a total course load of 120 hours, including 44 hours of practical classes and 76 hours of independent study.
The course curriculum consists of two content modules per semester. Instruction is conducted in the form of practical classes. The course concludes with an exam.
