Course content
The course focuses on the gradual development of knowledge regarding synchronic linguistics as a system of scientific disciplines - including the metatheory of linguistics, pragmatics, syntax, and designique. The course presents material on the synchronic component of the fundamentals of linguistics as an academic discipline; clarifies its distinction from the scientific discipline of the same name; highlights the meaning of the categories «theory», «element», «unit», «concept», «regularity», «pragmatics», «syntax», and «designics»; introduces the division of synchronic linguistics into five branches; defines the basic concepts, theories, and patterns of synchronic linguistics, knowledge of which is necessary for further mastery of the discipline. The structure of the course includes 2 content parts: the first one introduces the topics of the course that are practical, and the second one is aimed at forming the theoretical basis of students' knowledge. The first part of the course focuses on practical familiarization with the IPA table; vecundity parameters of the oriental languages studied by students; mastering the scheme of language fields of the cerebral cortex; and familiarization with linguistic and statistical laws. The second part of the course examines the grounds for the theoretical division of knowledge about world languages into synchronic and historical, and the former into bodies of knowledge about linguistic pragmatics, syntax, and desygnics. The form of final control of the course is a test.
