Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must have successfully completed the comprehensive discipline “Modern Greek Literature” (semester 1).

basic linguistic, literary and translation studies concepts, basics of general
literary studies and translation studies, the main stages of the history of Greek literature and
their general characteristics in terms of literary theory; be able to: plan and evaluate

Course content
The aim of the discipline is to prepare students for professional activities in the field of
literary translation from the New Greek language, to deepen their knowledge of the stylistic resources of
of the New Greek and Ukrainian languages, the specifics of prose literary works, to form
the idea of the possibilities of overcoming translation problems, the peculiarities of translation
of translation work in the modern cultural space of Ukraine. Summary of the subject.
The discipline is aimed at providing students with knowledge of genre and stylistic
peculiarities of the Greek prose text from 1880 to the present, about the idiom and idiom
of the writer, the possibility of reproducing the genre specificity of the New Greek prose text
in Ukrainian from the point of view of different theories, about expressive, lexical and grammatical
stylistic phenomena of the New Greek language and the formation of skills of future translators
apply translation strategies and tactics for their reproduction with the help of lexical
grammatical and stylistic resources of the Ukrainian language.

The total grade for the semester consists of points,
received for classroom work (participation in discussions on theoretical issues, work on practical classes,

works (preparation of independent creative tasks). The discipline ends with a test.
The total number of points in the discipline (60/100 points) is determined as the sum of points for the work during the semester.
