Course content
The final exam in English is a comprehensive form of control and the final
certification of master's graduates of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. The exam is aimed at testing professional
knowledge in English, English language theory and translation and is designed to finally
to determine the level of theoretical knowledge, English language proficiency and translation skills
and translation skills of students who are studying for a master's degree.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The final exam in English takes the form of a comprehensive written
and open-ended tasks aimed at testing functional, linguistic and
speaking competence in English. The types of tasks have different levels of
and are organised into blocks: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. The following skills are assessed
knowledge of research methods in modern linguistics, modern English, in particular, the ability to
to characterise different approaches to learning English depending on
research tasks, the ability to highlight the features of modern linguistic approaches,

The final exam in English consists of three stages: 1. Written answer to
questions from the course of English language theory; 2. Written abstract and written translation
of a Ukrainian-language text into English; 3. Oral interview.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of knowledge, which is revealed at three successive stages, is carried out in accordance with
the criteria for assessing students' answers in the final exam in English.
The number of points that a graduate can score is formed by the sum of points for 3 tasks:
the maximum number of points is 100 (35 points for 1 task; 35 points for 2 tasks; 30 points for 3 tasks),
the minimum positive score is 60.
