Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Use Ukrainian as the state language in all spheres of social life, including professional communication and organization of intercultural communication. PLO 5. Cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them for adequate translation (from Ukrainian into the native language and vice versa) of oral and written texts of different styles and genres. PLO 18. Have the skills to manage complex actions or projects in solving complex problems in professional activities in the field of translation and be responsible for decision-making in unpredictable conditions.PLO 25. Organize the process of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language, taking into account the basics of appropriate teaching methods.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of theoretical and practical courses of the Ukrainian language taught during the first to sixth semesters of study (Practical Grammar of the Ukrainian Language, Practical Phonetics of the Ukrainian Language, Oral Speaking, Written Speaking, Commentary Reading of Scientific Texts, Practical Course of the Ukrainian Language, Modern Ukrainian Language (Lexicology. Phraseology. Lexicography. Word Formation. Morphology), Introduction to Translation Studies; Practice of Translation and Interpretation (taught in previous semesters). 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics, skills of translation and interpretation from native language into Ukrainian.
Course content
The discipline forms a professional understanding of translation, its nature and specificity, outlines the role and place of translation in various methods and technologies of teaching foreign languages; gives an idea of the possibilities of using translation tasks in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language, characterizes the features of different types of translation and the system of tasks for developing appropriate skills and abilities in foreign students in the process of teaching professional translation. The course consolidates and updates knowledge about the systemic organization of the modern Ukrainian language, considers the units and phenomena of the Ukrainian language in comparison with the units and phenomena of the student's native language. The discipline is also aimed at activating speech activity, developing practical skills in translation and interpreting necessary in communicative situations in different conditions and spheres of communication. In general, the discipline improves the communicative and translation competencies of a philologist and contributes to the qualified linguistic and methodological training of a future teacher and translator.
