Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the course History of Foreign Literature (Bachelor Degree of Higher Education) and the following course of Master programme “Psychology of secondary school”, “Foreign theories of literature” and “English for secondary school students. Teaching English methodology in secondary school”.
Course content
The course is aimed at providing theoretical and practical preparation of students for the professional activity of a teacher of Foreign Literature in secondary education institutions. The course explores the process of teaching Foreign Literature, identifies and motivates the practical choice of methodological technologies and approaches to teaching and assessing the level of competencies in secondary and high school. The discipline covers the theoretical development of approaches, methods and techniques, including innovative, of teaching Foreign Literature, taking into account the psychological and pedagogical characteristics of secondary and high school students, as well as analysis, planning, development and presenting of fragments of lessons.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study consist of lectures, practical classes and students’ self-study. Teaching methods include answers at the practical classes, modelling and presentation of fragments of lessons, analysis of the lesson plans and presenting opinions on them.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final mark for the course is formed as the sum of the points of the current and final control. Formative assessment includes answers at practical classes (max 20 / min 10 points), modelling and presentation of the fragments of lessons (max 24 / min 14 points), analysis of the lesson plans (max 8 / min 6 points), and presenting opinions on the presented fragments of lessons (max 8 / min 6 points). In total, in-process evaluations of academic progress during the semester a student can gain max 60 / min 36 points. Summative assessment is arranged in the form of the exam. The exam scores max 40 / min 24 points. T o be admitted to the exam a student must score min 36 points. To receive a positive mark in the discipline, the mark for the exam must be at least 24 points.
