Learning outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge and skill of creating conceptual schemes of solving international and national legal problems, examining legal concepts to ensure logical consistency and practical adequacy, producing new ideas for solving practical issues in the field of professional legal activity of settling international disputes. Analyze and apply relevant international legal norms on settling international disputes, identify trends and patterns in this professional sphere. Demonstrate leadership in performing scientific and practical study of peculiarities of international law, take responsibility for the results of analysis, motivate and coordinate work of others to achieve the goals set. Represent Ukraine's interests in foreign countries, international organizations, at international conferences; analyze political, social, economic and other risks related to international law events.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the basics of History of International Law, International Public Law (Fundamental Theory), International Public Law (Main Branches and Institutes), Law of Treaties. Ability to apply the norms and principles of international law, to analyze decisions of relevant international courts for solving specific problems in sphere of international law, to analyze and establish the content of rights and obligations of international law subjects in accordance with the provisions of certain international treaties,. Have the basic skills of legal analysis and synthesis, critical thinking, working out of a considerable amount of legal material while providing one’s own conclusions and proposals
Course content
Thematic plan of the discipline: 1. History of development of peaceful means of settlement of international disputes. Settlement of international disputes in system of contemporary international law 2. Negotiation (consultation) as peaceful mean of settlement of international disputes 3. Good offices and mediation as peaceful means of settlement of international disputes 4. Fact finding and conciliation as peaceful means of settlement of international disputes 5. General issues of international means of adjudication. Classical interstate and commercial arbitration 6. International court institutions in system of international dispute settlement. 7. System of dispute settlement within the UN. UN International court of justice 8. Means of settlement of international disputes within the international organisations.

Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: answers (up to 40 points), written assignment (up to 40 points), final modular test (up to 20 points). The form of final control is credits.
