Learning outcomes
Mastering of the basic theoretical concepts of international law, theories of its origin and formation; the content and essence of the historical development of elements and components of the international legal system, the historical nature of international legal phenomena, the nature and essence of universal, general international law and features of the formation and development of regional international legal subsystems; forecasting the development of international legal regulation of modern international relations, studying the history of international legal activity Ukraine. As a result of studying the discipline, the student must know the specifics of the system of international law in comparison with other systems of regulation of public relations;

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The subject "History of International Law" is based on and closely interacts with a series of disciplines of theoretical, professional and practical training, including "Theory of State and Law", "History of State and Law of Ukraine", "Introduction to International Law", etc.
Course content
Thematic plan of the discipline:
1. Theory of the history of international law (IL). Theories of the origin of the IL.
2. IL of the ancient period: the formation of the main elements and components of IL.
3. Character of Jus gentium - the predecessor of the European IL. The concept of historical transformation of IL.
4. The nature of the IL of late antiquity-early Middle Ages. Formation of the principles of interaction between IL and municipal law.
5. Peculiarity of formation of regional subsystems of IL.
6. IL of the European Middle Ages.
7. Westphalian system of the IL.
8. Classical IL (XVIII-XIX centuries)

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: answers (up to 30 points), additions (up to 5 points), written assignment (up to 5 points), final modular test (up to 10 points). The form of final control is a test. The test is conducted in oral form.
