Learning outcomes
To know and understand the nature of international relations and regional development, evolution, the state of theoretical research of international relations and world politics, as well as the nature and sources of state policy in the international arena and the activities of other participants in international relations.
Know and understand the nature and dynamics of international security, understand the features of its provision at the global, regional and national levels.
Investigate the problems of international relations, regional development, foreign policy, international communications, using modern political, economic and legal theories and concepts, scientific methods and interdisciplinary approaches, provide appropriate recommendations.
Carry out applied analysis of international relations, foreign policy of Ukraine and other states, international processes and the international situation in accordance with the objectives, prepare information and analytical documents.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- To know theoretical aspects and main regulation tools for various form of international relations.
- To be able to analyze reasons and effects of chronology events.
- To have basic skills of searching and analysis of documents, analytical information and statistical data sources.
- To know English or other foreign languages for better opportunities for review of specific researches, international documents and sources.
Course content
Module 1.
1. Post-war settlement: its features in Europe and the Far East.
2. The beginning of the "cold war" and the establishment of a bipolar structure of international relations. 3. The German problem in international relations. 4. The beginning of the decolonization process. Entry of liberated countries into the international arena. 5. Activities of the UN in the conditions of the "Cold War".
Module 2. 6. The USSR and the USA in the process of transforming the global system of international relations. 7. Formation of the policy of detente in Europe and strengthening of European security. 8. The problem of arms control and disarmament. (60-80s of the 20th century) Topic 9. Eastern European countries in international relations. 10. Integration processes in Western Europe: from European communities to the European Union.
