Knowledge about the state and law, basic concepts and categories of jurisprudence, main sources and forms of law, legal system and system of law, the main properties of legal relations. The course gives an understating of the causes of state and law formation, forms and functions of state, sources and forms of law and different legal systems.

Full-time form

Acquisition by students of such knowledge and skills presupposes primarily their active and creative independent work with educational, normative-legal, scientific sources, in the course of performance of individual tasks, preparation for seminars, lectures, practical classes, writing of modular tests, scientific articles and reports.

Thematic plan of the discipline: • Modern comparative theory of state and law, its object, subject matter, features, methodology of research and tasks • The evolution of civilization and society and the formation of the state, comparative theories of the origin of states • International legal characteristics of a person. Person’s legal status and relations with society and the state • International legal characteristics of the state: concepts, features, essence and typology • International legal characteristics of the form of the state, concepts, features and evolution of models • Functions of the state and their comparative analysis in modern conditions of international development • International legal characteristics of the mechanism of the state and the state apparatus • Political system of civil society • Relationship and interaction of civil society, individuals, state and law • Democracy as a form of state and legal development of modern civilization • Democratic, legal and social state • Protection of human rights in the Member States of the European Union: comparative legal analysis • International legal models of modern state-building

Lectures, seminars

Evaluation is carried out according to the modular rating system. Current control: answers (up to 30 points), additions (up to 5 points), written assignment (up to 5 points), final modular test (up to 10 points). The form of final control is an exam. The exam is conducted in writing. The student's answer to the exam – up to 40 points.
