Learning outcomes
Program learning outcomes. PRN1. To know and understand the nature of international relations and regional development, the evolution, the state of theoretical studies of international relations and world politics, as well as the nature and sources of state policies in the international arena and the activities of other participants in international relations. PRN4. Know the principles, mechanisms, and processes of ensuring the foreign policy of states, the interaction between foreign and domestic policies, the definition and implementation of national interests of states in the international arena, and the process of forming and implementing foreign policy decisions. PRN7. To carry out a description and analysis of the international situation, to collect from various sources the necessary information about international and foreign political events and processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The educational discipline "Fundamentals of international political studies" is based on and closely interacts with the cycle of disciplines of theoretical, professional, and practical training, in particular, "Introduction to the specialty", "International political space", "History of diplomacy". To successfully master the academic discipline, a student must know the general principles of search and research work, the main concepts of international relations, have an idea of ​​the concepts of "science", "research"; be able to conduct search work, make abstracts of specialized texts and lectures, use scientific reference tools (library catalogs, databases, etc.); to have basic skills of collecting, systematizing and analyzing information.

Module 1. Topic 1. Science and scientific approach: basic concepts, classification, principles. Topic 2. Structure and organization of scientific research. Topic 3. Methodology of scientific research. Topic 4. International political research in the structure of scientific knowledge. Module 2. Topic 5. Methodological approaches in the study of international relations. Topic 6. Typology of international political studies. Topic 7. Sources of scientific research. Topic 8. Student scientific written works.

Lectures, presentations, seminars, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation is carried out in the form of a knowledge and skills test: during an answer at a seminar session (participation in a discussion) - 30% in the general/summary evaluation system; in the form of writing independent works - 20% in the general/summary evaluation system; in the form of group presentations of research tasks - 30% in the general/summary evaluation system; in the form of writing a control paper in the form of test tasks - 20% in the general/summary evaluation system. The course includes two substantive modules. Classes are held in the form of lectures, seminars, and presentations. The discipline ends with a test. Upon receiving the final number of points from 60 and above, the student is assigned a grade of pass. Assessment of all types of work is carried out throughout the semester, including independent work and performance of individual and collective tasks. The final grade is given taking into account the points obtained for the final test.
