Learning outcomes
Knowledge of the main macroeconomic characteristics; the equilibrium model of aggregate demand and supply AD-AS; the concept and problems of the exchange rate and balance of payments; causes and types of inflation; social and economic consequences of inflation; the relationship between inflation and unemployment; basic theories and relationships between consumption, savings and investment; the mechanism of action of the investment multiplier and the accelerator model; features of macroeconomic policy in an open economy. Ability to apply the methodology of macroeconomic research; to analyze and apply the main theories of macroeconomics in practice; to determine the relationship between the main instruments of macroeconomic policy; to evaluate the socio-economic consequences of certain measures of the state's macroeconomic policy. Communication in the process of discussion and analysis of the most important theories of macroeconomics.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
A student must: 1) possess general knowledge about the patterns of behavior of economic entities in market conditions; possess a universal tool for making informed decisions on making choices in the presence of limited funds and alternative possibilities for their use; determine the functions of market self-regulation and the need and essence of state intervention in the economy; 2) know the theoretical aspects and fundamentals of regulation in the field of various forms of economic relations at the national micro-level and be able to analyze the causes and consequences of trends in the field of international economic relations; 3) be able to analyze the theoretical and practical aspects of the interaction between the main sectors of the national economy; 4) possess elementary skills in search and analysis of normative documents, analytical materials, and sources of statistical data.

Module 1. Theoretical bases for the study of macroeconomic actions. The public sector of an economy. 1. Subject, methods, and functions of macroeconomics. A macroeconomic model of the circulation of resources, products, and incomes 2. Macroeconomic indicators in the system of national accounts 3. Aggregate demand and aggregate supply 4. Consumption, savings, investment 5. The national market for goods and its equilibrium 6. Macroeconomic instability: cyclical economic development 7. Macroeconomic instability: inflation and unemployment 8. Economic growth Module 2. Monetary Economics 9. The money market and the problems of its equilibrium 10. Banking system and monetary policy 11. Fiscal policy 12. Public debt management 13. Exchange rate and balance of payments 14. Models of an open economy. Macro-economic policy under open macroeconomics.
