Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Linguistics.
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization.
PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in a chosen linguistic field to solve complex tasks and issues, which require updates and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or lacking information and contradictory requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in the German language, written mediation in the first foreign language, and consecutive oral mediation at the C2 level (proficient user) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to develop students' understanding of discourse as a holistic linguistic and cultural space, "speech immersed in life," and to familiarize students with various types of discourse (literary, scientific, mass media, political, advertising, etc.) and text typology. The discipline consists of seven content modules. The course material encompasses the development of different schools and approaches in discourse studies, establishes its terminology, explains the categories of multimodality and interdiscursivity, teaches students to differentiate between different genre-stylistic varieties of texts and their specific features at all language levels and in various communicative situations, applies discourse analysis, interprets and identifies pragmatic and psycholinguistic features of a text, its cognitive and semiotic aspects, distinguishes paraverbal means of communication, and utilizes acquired skills for applied research within master's theses.

Educational activities during the semester include:

Intermediate assessment - oral responses, contributions, participation in discussions during lectures and seminars, quick quizzes, tests;

Assessment methods and criteria
The final grade is determined based on the student's performance throughout the semester and does not involve additional assessment measures. The forms of work include:
Oral responses, statements on a topic, contributions during quick quizzes/discussions, LO 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4 (0.5/2 points).
Presentations, reports, creative tasks, LO 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4 (5/10 points).
Summarizing, abstracting, LO 1.1-1.4 (0.5/2 points).
Module test: LO 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4 (2/10 points).
Final testing on the course: LO 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4 (6/20 points).
Students who have achieved the minimum passing score of 60 receive a "pass" grade. Students who have not achieved the minimum passing score of 60 receive a "fail" grade. The maximum grade for the course is 100 points.
