Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know:
sequence of systematic analysis of a literary text;
terminology of modern literary criticism;
principles of systematic analysis of literary direction, theme, motif, image, plot, composition, aesthetic mode and pathos, paths, etc .;
scientific achievements of leading native and foreign researchers.
The student must be able to:
analyze the foreign literature, based on the conception of systematic analysis of literary text;
apply systematic analysis in the study of foreign literature;
collect scientific information, prepare reviews, annotations, abstracts and bibliography on the subject of literary comparative studies;
present materials of own research orally, in writing and in the form of presentations.
Course content
The discipline aims to introduce students with native and foreign literary theories and develop skills of system analysis of literary text. Students' attention is focused on foreign literature. The structure of the course provides consideration of main categories of literary criticism (plot, motif, theme, mode, image) and studying by principles of system analysis of literary text.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Basic teaching methods: explanatory-illustrative, problem-based, interactive, design, information-computer.
Forms of training organization: classroom (lectures, seminars), extracurricular (consultations, individual tasks and classes, independent work)
Exam - written: examination test for 2 academic hours.
Current control - presentations, speeches at seminars, tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final grade for the course is formed as the sum of the points of the current and final control.
Forms of current control include 1) answers to seminars (max 35 / min 21 points), 2) preparation of an individual presentation (max 10 / min 6 points) and 3) writing a test (max 15 / min 10 points). In total, the forms of final control are max 60 / min 36 points.
Form of final control - exam, score for credit - max 40 / min 21 points.
To be admitted to the test you must score at least 36 points. To receive a positive grade in the discipline, the grade for the exam must be at least 24 points.
