Learning outcomes
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Spanish and English. PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from Spanish, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except highly specialized ones. PLO 22. Use the knowledge of history and culture of Ukraine and Spanish- and English-speaking countries for ensuring successful communication and adequate translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of Spanish at least B1+/B2 level. 2. Have basic skills in written and oral translation of non-specialized texts from Spanish into Ukrainian. 3. Possess basic skills of translation text analysis.
Course content
The discipline aims to develop basic skills in translation from Ukrainian into Spanish (first foreign language). It is a specialized discipline and is included in the free choice blocks "Translation in Intercultural Communication" and "Written and Oral Sectoral Translation". It promotes the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills in A-B translation. This implies a generally common approach to teaching the discipline within both blocks, with a distinctive thematic and sectoral nature of the texts offered for translation. The course teaches students to solve grammatical and lexical-grammatical problems relevant to a given language pair in translation, develops skills in finding lexical equivalents and overcoming common genre and style problems. Languages of instruction, teaching and assessment are Spanish and Ukrainian.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in clause 7.1 of the work program of the discipline. Students who have scored a total of less than the critical-calculated minimum of 36 points during the semester are not allowed to take the exam. To be admitted to the exam, such students must complete at least 50% of the written assignments for the semester, as well as write tests that did not score the minimum number of points. The exam consists of 3 tasks: 1) written translation of a text from Ukrainian into Spanish (min. 12 - max. 20 points); 2) written translation commentary on difficulties (min. 6 - max. 10 points); 3) oral abstract of a Ukrainian newspaper or information text in Spanish (min. 6 - max. 10 points).
