Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminology of the discipline. Know the areas of discourse. Know the meaning of the concepts "discourse", "addressee", "addressee", "illocution", "manipulative tactics". Know the lexical features of modern Japanese political discourse. Be able to use appropriate terminology, demonstrate the mastery of the necessary theoretical basis of the discipline. Be able to use lexical, grammatical and stylistic transformations in translation; fill in the gaps in the text. Have the skills to lead discussions when discussing topics from the discourse of the Japanese language. Act socially responsibly and consciously, have the skills to work autonomously and in a team.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the disciplines "Japanese language", "Introduction to Eastern philology", "Translation practice", "Theory and practice of translation", "Translation studies", "Linguistics", "Stylistics", etc .;
2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics and culturology;
3) mastery of the practice of translating a Japanese text, skills of stylistic analysis of the text.
Course content
Presentation of theoretical material on the concept of discourse, its types, the place of political discourse in the system of discourses, lexical, grammatical and stylistic features of modern political discourse; analysis of factual material - speeches of Japanese politicians, Japanese-language press conferences and briefings with officials, interviews with Japanese politicians. Consideration of the following main issues: 1) the concept of discourse, its diversity; 2) political discourse as an actual object of linguistic research; review of theoretical achievements of the study of political discourse; 3) linguistic and stylistic analysis of Japanese-language political texts; 4) analysis of the suggestive and manipulative influence of political speeches.
