Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course, students must first master the courses: "Chinese for professional communication", "Speech culture: academic and business discourse", "English language", etc.; to know the basics of translation theory and practice; have the practice of translating Chinese and English texts.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline: development of students' abilities and skills in translating texts from Chinese to English.Abstract. The course "Chinese-English Translation: practical course" provides students with the formation of skills and abilities to translate texts on social and political topics from Chinese into English by applying the knowledge and skills of translation theory in practice; development of skills for identifying translation difficulties and making decisions about ways to overcome them, applying all kinds of translation transformations and compensations in the process of creating a high-quality translation product; improving the skills of working with lexicographic sources, scientific and reference literature. The discipline ends with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork (oral answers) and modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall assessment consists of points received for the work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing unsupervised papers, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
