PLO 12. Analyse linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterise linguistic phenomena and processes that determine them. PLO 22.2. To know the culturally determined factors that shape the relationship between communicators in different communicative situations for adequate reproduction in translation from Polish and Lithuanian. PLO 23.2. Apply knowledge of the Baltic-Slavic linguistic and cultural continuum in translation practice.

Full-time form

Knowledge of the basics of vocabulary and grammar of the modern Lithuanian language; proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at the level required by the programme of the 1st year of study "Lithuanian Language"; knowledge of linguistic and literary terminology and terminology system that students have mastered during the comprehensive discipline "Introduction to Philology" ("Introduction to Linguistics", "Introduction to Literary Studies", "Latin Language"); knowledge of basic linguistic and folklore terminology and issues that were considered in the integrated discipline "Introduction to Specialisation" ("Linguistic and Country Studies of the Polish Language", "Polish Folklore"). Higher education students should have an understanding of language as the main means of transmitting culture, a way of forming and expressing an ethnic worldview.

The subject of the discipline "Lithuanian Linguistics and Folklore" is the space of Lithuanian linguistic culture and Lithuanian folklore. The facts of the traditional material and spiritual culture of Lithuanians are studied, in particular their artistic and verbal creativity in the totality of its types and forms, where the language preserves knowledge about life and nature, reflects the world of thoughts, ideas, folk poetic fantasy. In the course, students consider the relationship between language and spiritual culture, language and folk mentality, language and folk art of Lithuanians. Thus, the content of the discipline allows students to form a holistic view of Lithuanian linguistic culture and folklore in the context of European civilisation. The study of Lithuanian linguistics and folklore allows students to acquire special knowledge of the linguistic, cultural and folklore realities of Lithuania, which will be useful for future specialists for successful intercultural communication.

Lecture, practical lesson; independent work; presentation

Oral answer, supplement, independent work (abstract, presentation), open-ended test. Intermediate control: during the semester, assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control (described in the programme, clause 7.1). All learning outcomes are assessed during lectures and practical classes during the semester. Students submit a report with a presentation no later than the fourth academic week, no later than the last lecture week.
