PLO 17. Collect, analyse, systematise and interpret facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex tasks and problems in specialised areas of professional activity and/or study. PLO 22.2. Have the skills to interpret and translate Polish and Lithuanian texts of different styles and genres. PLO 23.2. Apply knowledge of the Baltic-Slavic linguistic and cultural continuum in translation practice. PLO 24.2. Apply methods and strategies established in translation studies for interpreting and translating.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the basic vocabulary and grammar of the modern Lithuanian language (EK "Lithuanian Language", EK "Practical Course of Lithuanian Language"); knowledge of professional philological terminology and terminology system that students have mastered during the integrated discipline "Introduction to Philology" ("Introduction to Literary Studies", "Latin", "Introduction to Linguistics"); knowledge of translation terminology and issues mastered by students within the integrated discipline "Translation Theory and Practice" (Part 1 "Introduction to Translation Studies", Part 4 "Lithuanian-Ukrainian Translation of Business Documents", Part 7 "Lithuanian-Ukrainian Translation of Mass Media Discourse"); knowledge of the basics of linguistic and folklore studies that were studied within the discipline "Linguistic and Folklore Studies of the Lithuanian Language"). Higher education applicants must have the ability to generalise and summarise (PLO "Scientific image of the world).
Course content
The course deals with the issues of Lithuanian-Ukrainian translation of mass media discourse, which include the characterisation of mass media discourse, as well as the typology and structure of mass media in the Lithuanian communication space. The course covers theoretical and methodological foundations, principles, strategies and mechanisms of mass media discourse translation. The course "Lithuanian-Ukrainian Translation of Mass Media Discourse" is designed for the fundamental professional training of philology and translation specialists who are knowledgeable in intercultural communications, means and methods of mass media discourse translation. The subject of the course is Lithuanian-Ukrainian translation of various types of mass media discourse (culture, education and science, advertising, sports, politics, economics, etc.). Mastering the course "Lithuanian-Ukrainian Translation of Mass Media Discourse" allows students to acquire professional knowledge that will be useful for future bachelors of philology for successful intercultural communication and professional translation.

Assessment methods and criteria
Answers to the to the practical classes, spontaneous monologue and dialogue speech, report with presentation, home reading / individual reading individual reading, written assignment (writing compositions, essays, letters). Final assessment: credit. The final number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Therefore, the final grade in the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final test (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
