Learning outcomes
PR 1. Freely communicate on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in state and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PR 10. Know the norms of literary language and be able to apply them in practice. PR 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in state and foreign languages. PR 14. Use Romance languages and English orally and in writing, in different genres and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PR 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The curriculum is designed for students who have successfully mastered school courses in Ukrainian, foreign language (English, French), or have no previous training in French.
Course content
The main goal of the first year of study is to develop skills and abilities in phonetics, graphics, spelling, vocabulary and grammar of the French language. The course is based on system-communicative and activity-oriented approaches and involves the acquisition of skills of oral interaction in every day communication. The discipline "Introduction to the French language" is part of the educational and professional training program for "Bachelor" degree, field of knowledge 03 "Humanities", specialty "Romance languages and literature (translation included), FL - French". This discipline is taught in the 1st semester of the bachelor's degree during 360 hours (12 ECTS credits), of which: practical classes - 180 hours, independent work - 180 hours. The course includes 3 content modules and 3 module tests. Final performance control ends with an exam at the end of the semester.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 3 content modules and 3 module tests. Final performance control ends with an exam at the end of the semester. The calculation of the final score of the content module is performed by adding the resulting score for written and oral answers to the result of the module test (max.20, min.12). Final performance control ends with an exam at the end of the semester (max.40, min.24). The final result is calculated as a simple accumulation of final points for the content modules and the exam (maximum - 100 points).
