Learning outcomes
PLO 3. Knows and understands the principles, forms, modern methods, methodological techniques of teaching the subject in general secondary education institutions (level of basic secondary education). PLO 8. Selects and applies modern educational technologies and methods for the formation of subject competencies of students and conducts self-analysis of the effectiveness of lessons. PLO 15. Applies methods of bilingual and integrated teaching of language and professional content, has knowledge of multilingualism didactics and methods of parallel teaching of related languages, methods of working in a heterogeneous (mixed) learning environment.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Be able to: 1.Comprehend basic information and ideas of everyday life, as well as those regularly encountered during study, travel, recreation, etc. 2.Communicate in most situations that may arise when traveling in foreign countries 3.Compose a coherent message on topics that are familiar as well as those of personal interest. Know: 1. The rules for constructing sentences, phrases and phrase unities related to the most predictable situations using a repertoire of grammatical structures. 2. The studied vocabulary material should contribute to the understanding of the main content of clear normative speech on topics close and often used in education, description of leisure; provide solutions to most problems during a stay in a foreign country. Possess: 1. Master 1500 lexical items, some of which are stable expressions, idioms, phrasal verbs. In addition, to know the different uses of the same word, as well as synonyms and antonyms of various lexical items.
Course content
The academic discipline "General English" is a component of the educational and professional program of training specialists in the educational qualification level "Bachelor", field of knowledge 02. Philology, specialization 014.02. Secondary Education (by subject specialization). The discipline (communicative level B1+B2) is designed to develop students' communicative, linguistic and socio-cultural competencies; to develop students' cognitive competence in relation to other types of competencies; positive attitude to mastering both the language and culture of the English-speaking world; awareness of the functions of a foreign language in the educational process and in society; to provide knowledge about the culture, history, realities and traditions of the country whose language is studied, to develop the ability to use, if necessary, various strategies of teaching and learning. The discipline is taught in English with the use of English-language and domestic sources; Russian-language materials are not used. This discipline consists of six modules (Alive&Well, Right&Wrong, Land&Sea, Magic&Mystery, Parents&Children, Power&Money).

Assessment methods and criteria
The semester score is formed by the points received by the student in practical classes and writing the ICR. A student can score a maximum of 60 points for work during the semester. Assessment of semester work: 1. Answers in practical classes, conversation: 24 - 40 points. 2. Module tests: 12 - 20 points. 3. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
