Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and to understand the system of ancient Greek, Latin and foreign languages, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature, to be able to apply the knowledge in professional activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating spoken and written texts of various genres and styles in national, classical and foreign languages. PLO 13. To analyze and to interpret ancient literature works, to determine their specificity and the position in the literary process. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of ancient Greek and Latin languages texts of various styles and genres. PLO 22. To understand the role and the place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the development strategies of the latest scientific paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of the academic disciplines "Introduction to Literary Studies", "Introduction to Classical Philology", "History of Ancient Greek Literature" and "Latin Language (first-third semesters)"; 2) knowledge of general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, the basics of literary terminology, the basics of ancient Greek and ancient Roman mythology, the basic volume of ancient Greek literature, the basics of the Latin language. 3) gaining of the basic skills and abilities to track the evolution of literary genres, ancient plots and images, to analyze and interpret literary works.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to train specialists in philology, who thoroughly possess the theoretical foundations and practical skills of evaluating, analyzing and interpreting works of the Ancient Roman literature including original texts. Abstract of the academic discipline. Within the scope of the discipline, the peculiarities of the literary process of Ancient Rome, the genesis and evolution of genera, genres and styles of the Ancient Roman literature, the problems and the artistic world of the Roman epic, historiographical prose, Roman poetry and the novel, the influence of the Roman literary tradition on the development of world literature are considered; the main works of representatives of the Ancient Roman literature are analysed with the involvement of original texts; methods and techniques of literary analysis and interpretation of works of Roman antiquity are studied.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical class, control work with open answers, independent work and creative task.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment: credit. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (oral answers, additions and participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, test work with open answers), independent creative works (abstract, presentation) and final test work. All types of work for the semester have as a result: ● in the maximum dimension of 100 points, ● a minimum of 60 points. Final control work in the form of tests: 1.1-1.5; 2.3, 2.5; 4.1-4.5 – 12/20 points.
