Learning outcomes
LO 1. To search, analyze and synthesize information from various sources for solving professional tasks and to establish causal relationships between social events and phenomena. LO 3. To identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of social work, to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical experience. LO 5. To argue ways to overcome problems and difficult life circumstances theoretically, to choose effective methods to solve them, to predict the consequences. LO 11. To use prevent methods for deviations in mental development, behavioral disorders, interpersonal relationships breakdown, for conflict resolution, for prevention of social risks and difficult life circumstances. LO 13. To use methods of social diagnostics in the evaluation process of problems, needs, peculiarities and client’s resources.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the theoretical and methodological principles of the history of social work; features of socionomic processes, ways to ensure successful and effective care, assistance, diagnosis and rehabilitation in different periods of social work; normative and legislative documents on social work;
2. Be able to plan social work, understand the goal and specify it in the tasks; clearly define the content, basic forms and methods of social charity, guardianship and assistance in different historical periods; recognize current forms and methods of social assistance in the historical experience of the past; to systematize views, ideas, facts for the formation of theoretical and practical achievements; use historical and socionomic material for writing essays, term papers and dissertations.
Course content
The purpose of teaching the discipline is to master students' theoretical and methodological foundations of modern investigations in social work as a necessary element of assistance to individuals and groups in the process of social work.
The course is designed to acquaint students with the basic methods of psychology and the peculiarities of their application in the practice of social work. First of all, the future social worker must understand the difference between practical, domestic and scientific psychology and how they can be used in professional activities.

Assessment methods and criteria
The order of organization of assessment is carried out during the semester during the performance of students:
1. Creative and reproductive tasks for independent work - up to 10 points for each
2. Preparation of reports and abstracts - up to 10 points for each
3. Modular test - up to 20 points
- final assessment in the form of a test - up to 40 points
Based on the results of the semester, the student receives a final grade on a 100-point system, which is calculated as the accumulated grades for the module in the semester and grades for the test according to the following formula: Content module (30-60 points) + Comprehensive final module 40 points) = Total (final score) (36 - 100 points)
