to know:
- fundamental theories of aging;
- socio-psychological characteristics of clients of social work;
- theoretical foundations of social work with the elderly;
- features of providing social assistance and socio-psychological support to clients of social work;
- forms, methods and technologies of social work with different categories;
- components of resource provision of social work;
be able:
- to apply theoretical knowledge in the practice of social work with different categories of clients;
- develop social projects and programs;
- to assist in the implementation of resource provision of social work with various clients of social work;
- to use some psychodiagnostic and socio-pedagogical methods of studying personality;
- to establish psychological contact with the client, taking into account individual characteristics;
- to conduct various forms of individual work with clients;
- to evaluate the results of activities and make a forecast for the future
Course content
This course aims to acquaint students with the biosocial aspects of aging and old age; with the social consequences of demographic processes caused by population aging; with features of psycho-somatic, material, household, legal, socio-cultural and other problems of the elderly; with debatable issues and problems of social policy and pension provision in the context of different characteristics of the aging process (retirement, size of pensions, employment of people of retirement age, housing issues, social and psychological assistance to the elderly, etc.). Much attention is paid to the psychology of the elderly and senile, understanding of deontological issues in social work with the elderly. The most crucial task of social work with the elderly is the connection of biological, psychological and social approaches to human aging, which prepares students for practical professional activities.

Assessment methods and criteria
The organization of assessment forms provided by the working curriculum is carried out during the semester during students' creative and reproductive tasks, individual work, preparation of reports and abstracts, a compilation of modular tests, and a final test. Based on the work results during the semester, the student receives a final grade on a 100-point system, which is calculated as the accumulated grades for the modules during the semester.
Creative and reproductive tasks for individual work - up to 15 points for each; preparation of reports and abstracts - up to 10 points for each; modular control work - up to 20 points. A student could not take the final test if he scored less than 36 points during the semester. Form of final control - credit. Credit points: 0-59 - not credited, 60-100 - "credited".
Points 1 - 59 corresponds to the assessment of "unsatisfactory"; 60 -74 - "satisfactory"; 75 - 90 - "good"; 91 - 100 - "excellent".
