Learning outcomes
To know the characteristics of texts of official style, and its substyles in Ukrainian and English; characteristics of texts of scientific style and its substyles in Ukrainian and English; characteristics of texts of publicistic style in Ukrainian and English; types of abstracts; professional terminology; clichés and vocabulary that serves standardized texts in English, and their Ukrainian equivalents. Translator’s etiquette in business communication. To be able to provide oral and written translation from English into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into English of texts of official, scientific, and publicistic styles; translation during scientific conferences; to carry out consecutive interpretation in professional and business and scientific and professional spheres; to perform full and abstract interpretation of audio texts and materials of electronic mass media. To demonstrate the ability to communicate and speak on social and professional topics in a foreign language.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must have sufficient English language skills, knowledge of translation theory and basic translation skills in the professional field to acquire relevant skills for translation in business and translation during English conferences.

1. Two content modules, each of 10 points – 20 points; 2. Current control of progress: English-Ukrainian written complete and abstract translation 10 points; Ukrainian-English written complete and abstract translation 10 points; consecutive interpretation 10 points, abstracting 10 points – 40 points in total; 3. Comprehensive final module: 40 points in total.
