Learning outcomes
Acquaint students with the conceptual aspects of the modern Ukrainian literary language as a system, the subject - the features of explicit expression of each of the structural levels (phonetic, lexical, phraseological, word-forming, morphological, syntactic, stylistic).
- To know the basic concepts of linguistic science, modern norms of literary language.
- To be able to present the created texts, competently conduct a dialogue on the topic brought up for discussion.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- knowledge about the system and structure of the Ukrainian language of modern mass media:
- the ability to find information, analyze phenomena and processes in language, apply acquired knowledge in the process of creating texts, correct language errors;
- acquiring the skills of correct oral and written communication, the basis for language self-improvement, necessary for effective participation in communicative processes.
Course content
Content module 1.
The Ukrainian language is the language of the Ukrainian people. Phonetic system of the Ukrainian language.
Topic 1. Introduction. Language as a means of communication
Topic 2. Language as a symbolic system.
Topic 3. The Ukrainian language among other languages of the world.
Topic 4. Phonetic means of communication in the media
Content module 2.
Lexical system of the Ukrainian language
Topic 5. The word as a linguistic unit. System relations in vocabulary.
Topic 6. Vocabulary of the modern Ukrainian language from a perspective. origin and use. Active and passive vocabulary.
Topic 7. Phraseological means of communication in the media.
Content module 3.
Morphological system of the Ukrainian language
Topic 8. Word-forming possibilities of the Ukrainian language
Topic 9. Grammar of the Ukrainian language. Difficult cases of declension and use of nouns, adjectives, pronouns and numerals.
Topic 10. Peculiarities of the Ukrainian verb.
Topic 11. Adverb in the Ukrainian language: difficulties of use and spelling.
Content module 4.
Syntactic system of the Ukrainian language
Topic 12. Word combinations. A simple sentence in the language of the media.
Topic 13. Peculiarities of construction and punctuation of a complex sentence.
Topic 14. Peculiarities of text perception.

Assessment methods and criteria
1) defense of individual tasks;
2) modular tests.

Students can receive up to 20 points for practical work and writing module tasks.
In practical classes, students perform practice-oriented tasks, which are assessed with a maximum of 10 points (threshold level of a positive assessment - 2 points).
The content module includes all topics. Mandatory for the test end exam is the performance of individual work provided for in the work program of the discipline.
