            PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of English and the two studied Western European languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages.
PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            For the 4th term, the multidiscipline "Second language" requires a “Pass” for the 3rd term, which presupposes the level of language knowledge between the basic and intermediate level.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The aim of the discipline is to build and extend students' knowledge of the German grammar and vocabulary, to improve students' skills and fluency in the German language for oral and written communication, the ability to search and present the necessary information, and the formation of sociocultural competence. The program is aimed at the formation and development of skills and abilities to lexically and grammatically correctly organize oral and written speech; development of the ability to work with different types of dictionaries and reference literature; improvement of pronunciation; the development of listening and understanding skills, understanding of the gist of audio and print texts, translation and rendering the content of the audio and print text; understanding the meaning of unknown words based on the context; the ability to speak on everyday topics and topics of personal interest, to provide simple recommendations and exchange information, to deliver a report; describe experiences, events, plans, provide explanations and evidence for different points of view.

            Learning activities during the term: 
• oral and written tasks, which are performed at practical classes and in the process of individual work; 
• written tests;
• module tests; 
• creative tasks; 
• answers at practical classes.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Term assessment: the maximum number of points during the term is 60 points: 
• answers at the practical class: LO 2.1, LO 2.3, LO 3.1, LO 4.1; LO 4.2, LO 2.3, LO 3.1, LO 4.1, LO 4.2 – 10 points; 
• written tests: LO 1.1, LO 1.2, LO 2.1, LO 2.2– 10 points; 
• module tests: LO 1.1 – 3.1 – 20 points; 
• creative tasks: LO 2.1, LO 2.2, LO 2.4– 20 points; 
Final assessment in the form of an exam: 
• the written part of the exam – 15 points, 
• the oral part of the exam – 25 points
The term final grade is formed by the points received by the student during the term and the points received at the exam – a minimum of 60 points, a maximum of 100 points, of which for the semester, the maximum is 60 points, the minimum is 36; for the exam - a maximum of 40 points; minimum - 24.
