Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, English and in two Western European languages, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication.
PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity.
PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, English and two other Western European languages.
PLO 18. Have the skills to manage complex activities or projects in solving complicated problems in professional activity in the framework of the selected philological specialization and be responsible for making decisions under unpredictable conditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) knowledge of English at B2-C1 level, proficiency in Ukrainian;
2) knowledge of the theory and practice of translation within the syllabi of the relevant disciplines of the educational programme "English Studies and Translation and Two Western European Languages", knowledge of translation terminology, methods of translation analysis;
3) knowledge of the types of difficulties in translation and the types of translation transformations used to solve them;
4) the ability to analyze the authentic text in the source language and synthesize a new translatied text in the native or foreign (target) language;
5) the ability to use modern search engines, reference electronic and printed resources;
6) general knowledge of PCs and basic programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), as well as basic knowledge of specialized programs and applications for translators (such as CAT tools).
Course content
Being immersed in real life, students have an opportunity to get acquainted with the routine of translation activities, to learn how to apply knowledge about difficulties in translation and ways to solve them in practice. At the places of internships, students learn to perform the tasks of the institution's management according to the requirements (graphic design, cooperation with other employees, work with PCs, with the archives of the institution (if necessary), etc.) within the allocated period of time. Terms and types of translation internship are determined in accordance with the curriculum of the Institute of Philology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered with the help of such activities as written translation and the defence of the internship results.
The teaching method is individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The ongoing process of translation (Part 1) is assessed by the relevant criteria. The maximum number of points at this stage is 60.
The final assessment (Part 2) takes the form of a differentiated credit. Provided that all requirements are met, a student can get a maximum of 40 points.
A student is not admitted to the defence if they scored less than 36 points for Part 1 (60% of the maximum number of points).
For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculated minimum of 36 points, the text of the translation (in full) must be submitted for admission to the defense.
