Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must:
Know: historical milestones in the development of social work practice; content and tasks of social work; methods of social work and socio-pedagogical activities; theory of social interaction, patterns of formation and development of teams.
Be able to: analyze the social processes of formation and development of social work as a science; use information and communication technologies.
Have the skills of application of knowledge in practical situations and understanding of the professional activity.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to master students' knowledge of the basics of theory and methods of volunteering, to promote their conscious involvement in volunteering, and prepare them for the implementation of volunteer projects and programs in socio-pedagogical work.
The discipline contains two content modules. The first module «Volunteering as a voluntary activity» introduces students to the subject and objectives of the course, its place in the system of training future social educators to perform professional functions; reveals the essence of the phenomenon of volunteering and the peculiarities of volunteering. The second module «Organizational support of volunteers» reveals ways to attract human resources to volunteer work, prepare for the implementation of volunteer projects and programs and manage them, evaluate their effectiveness and maintain motivation for volunteer work.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of students is carried out during all types of classes and for the results of independent work.
The minimum number of scores that can be scored per semester and required for admission to the exam – 36 scores, the maximum number of scores that a student can score for work during the semester – 60 scores (of which: survey, discussions – 10 scores (2-4 scores each); practical tasks – 10 scores; test – 10 scores; modular tests – 15 scores; self-assessment – 15 scores).
Final assessment – exam (maximum – 40 scores, minimum – 24 scores).
Grading scheme:
- Excellent (90-100 scores)
- Good (75-89 scores)
- Satisfactory (60-74 scores)
- Fail (0-59 scores)
