Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful performance in this course builds on prior knowledge of current issues in Ukrainian and foreign cultures; of literary periods in Ukraine, their development from ancient times to the present as well as the basics of literary criticism. Course participants are expected to obtain literary analysis skills and possess essential theoretical knowledge of folk art and ancient Ukrainian literature: Medieval and Baroque literatures, the history of Ukrainian literature in the 18th and 19th centuries, the history of Ukrainian literature at the turn of the 20th century. The course prerequisites also emphasize the ability to define basic literary terms, to make ideological and literary text analysis, to place the Ukrainian literature in the context of art history, to establish the nexus between modern Ukrainian and foreign literatures.
Course content
The course aims to enhance students' awareness of the development process of the Ukrainian literature in the European context; the perception of Ukrainian writers' literary works from ancient times to the present with a focus on European intercultural and interartistic communication. Abstract. The course gives a full apprehension of the development of Ukrainian literature in the European context, provides students with profound knowledge of literary text analyses and their critical reviews. The discipline provides a better understanding of philosophical, psychological and literary concepts reflecting life in artistic reality as well as of evolution of consciousness; allows students to determine criteria, principles and methods of analysis of Ukrainian literary texts from the point of view of modern Ukrainian and foreign critics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered in Ukrainian through the lectures, practical assignment and autonomous work, and teaching methods: academic discussion, problem solving lecture, academic conversation, research work. Major activities performed by the students include classroom assignments, a scientific report/presentation, and module test. During the term a student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for these activities that are components of formative assessment.
Assessment methods and criteria
With a 100-point assessment system used, the final course grade is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment which is delivered through oral performance in classroom, discussions - 50 max, and a min of 25 points; scientific project/presentation - 25 max, and a min of 17 points; final test - 25 max, and a min of 18 points. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points. Assessment on learning outcomes: LO 1.1-1.3; LO 2.1-2.4; LO 3.1, 3.2; LO 4.1, 4.2.
