Learning outcomes
PR01. Be able to apply modern mathematical methods to solve practical problems related to research and design of biotechnological processes. Use knowledge of physics to analyze biotechnological processes.
PR02. Be able to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin, using appropriate methods. PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the basic physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). PR07. Be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of different biological agents to determine the optimal conditions for cultivation and
the potential use of the studied cells in biotechnology. PR 10, 12.

1. Successful mastery of the scientific, theoretical and practical material of the disciplines taught to students of the bachelor's degree. 2) Be able to independently apply knowledge of cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and other disciplines, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in a biophysical laboratory.
Course content
The discipline "Physical and Chemical Processes in Living Systems" is a discipline whose main subject is the study of the relationship between the physical, chemical and biological forms of matter movement. The range of problems studied by the discipline is extensive. Among them are the problems that are the subject of study in physics, chemistry and biology, without a deep study of which it is impossible to understand the interconnection of physical, chemical and biological forms of matter and to establish its specific laws, for example, the doctrine of chemical equilibrium, elements of biothermodynamics and open systems theory, physical and chemical chemistry of biopolymers, enzymatic catalysis. The most important specific problems of the discipline include: the doctrine of the permeability of biological membranes in connection with their structure and biological functions; thermodynamics and kinetics of biochemical processes; the doctrine of redox processes in living organisms; the doctrine of the relationship between biological structures and functions and physical and chemical processes occurring in these structures at different levels, starting with the molecular structure of the protoplasm and ending with the implementation of such complex functions as muscle contraction and nervous excitation. Both theoretical and experimental methods of physics, chemistry and general biology are widely used in the study of various problems of the discipline.
