Learning outcomes
The student must know the basic principles of structural organization and properties of biological macromolecules; principles of functional and structural organization of the human genome; molecular mechanisms and principles of transcription regulation; molecular mechanisms of protein biosynthesis; molecular mechanisms of DNA replication, its repair, and recombination; principles of modern methods of molecular biology and prospects of their application in the diagnosis of diseases.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1.Successful mastering of the disciplinesthat cover basic questionsrelated to such fields of medical and biological disciplines as genetics. 2.Knowledge of the theoretical basics of genetics, biochemistry, embryology. 3.Ability to independently apply knowledge of chemistry, general biologyand othereducational disciplines, use the computer, work with scientific literature.
Course content
The discipline "Molecular Biology" is a basic subject taught in the 4th semester of the 2nd year and should form in students a clear understanding of the principles of cell function at the molecular level. The course consists of two modules, each of which focuses on certain aspects of molecular biology. The first module presents modern knowledge about the structure and properties of biological macromolecules and molecular mechanisms of transcription. The second module is devoted to the study of molecular mechanisms of translation and replication and recombination of DNA, as well as the basics of molecular biology methods.
