Course content
The course "Structure and functions of peptides and proteins" introduces students to modern principles of structure, classification, physicochemical properties and biological functions of proteins and peptides. Particular attention is paid to the most important characteristics of amino acids, which make them unique structural elements of all living proteins. The concepts of the levels of structural organization of protein molecules, the domain principle of their construction and the fundamentality of the meaning and functions of proteins, which are directly determined by their structure, are also provided. The concept of folding, its dynamics and control mechanisms are considered. The discipline presents modern ideas about the classification of proteins, as well as prospects for the study, production and use of proteins and peptides in pharmaceuticals and various industries.
