Learning outcomes
PLO 14. To use Polish, English and Lithuanian languages orally and in writing, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres life. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 22.1. To apply the knowledge of Polish and Lithuanian languages within the framework of linguistic and regional studies and tourism discourses. PLO 23.1. To be able to identify the national-cultural component in the structure of the Polish and Lithuanian languages. PLO 24.1 Apply receptions of literature and cultural realities in tourism discourse.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the course requires knowledge of general linguistic terminology and terminology; knowledge of the basics of modern Lithuanian grammar; mastery of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at the level provided for by the program of the 1st and 2nd years of study; the ability to analyze the phenomena of linguistic and cultural interference; interpret Lithuanian culture; mastering the elementary basics of grammar and syntax of the Lithuanian language, the skills of establishing cause-and-effect relationships between historical events and the analysis of their impact on cultural development, the ability to generalize.
Course content
The formation of ideas about language as the main means of transmitting culture and its perception by subsequent generations, the formation and expression in language of a special picture of the world that reflects the peculiarities of Lithuanian linguistic culture. Within the scope of the discipline, students consider the relationship between language and spiritual culture, language and national mentality, language and folk creativity, their interdependence. The connections between language and various aspects of material and spiritual culture are investigated. On the basis of reading individual works of Lithuanian authors, students get acquainted with the features of various periods of the history of Lithuanian culture, factors of the cultural development of Lithuania. Attention is focused on outstanding personalities, traditions and innovations of each stage of the development of Lithuanian culture. Students develop a holistic view of Lithuanian culture as an element of European civilization, various sides and aspects of Lithuanian culture are revealed to them.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is delivered with the help of such activities as oral reports and written tests. The teaching methods are lectures, seminars, creative and research projects, students’ individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is final test. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student during the semester. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (oral answers, tests) and for independent work. During the semester, a student can receive a maximum of 80 points, 20 points on the test; the maximum score is 100 points.
