The professional qualification 2444.2 Translator (English and/or German /French/Spanish/Italian /Portuguese) is awarded based on a special decision of the examination committee upon successful mastering of key disciplines and completion of an internship with a grade point average of at least 75. See the description for details, para 3.

PLO 1. To assess individual academic and scientific-professional activity, to build and implement an effective strategy of self-development and professional self-improvement. PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of national and foreign language mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and scientific communication; to present the results of their studies in the national and foreign language. PLO 3. To implement the modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific philological field. PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically the vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics of their solution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 5. To find optimal ways of effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize a successful communication. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify various schools and approaches of Linguistic Studies. PLO 8. To assess the historical legacy and new achievements of Literary Studies. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) principles and practical aspects of a specific linguistic specialization. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature and folklore to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 11. To perform a scholarly analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it considering expedient methodological principles, formulate summarizations based on the individually processed data. Full-time form

Examinations (written, oral, mixed form, pass-fail), grading tests, presentations, abstracts, reports, certification (final) examination, defence of internship report, defence of qualification (master’s) paper. Scale of grades (examination): 90-100 – excellent; 75-89 – good; 60-74 – satisfactory; 35-59 - unsatisfactory. Scale of grades (pass-fail examination): 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed. Master of Philology (Translation incl.) can fulfil professional realization in the literary and publishing, scientific and research, educational fields, particularly in printed and digital mass media, PR-technologies, in various humanitarian funds, unions, foundations, museums, art and cultural centres; to hold teaching, research, and administrative positions in higher educational institutions; in different economic sectors requiring translation and translation project management services, as well as texts text editing, proofreading, creation, analysis, and evaluation.

Graduates of the master’s program are eligible to pursue education on the tertiary education and scientific level of higher education upon graduation.
