Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the course, students should have basic factual knowledge of a humanitarian nature, know the theoretical foundations of ethnogenesis and cultural genesis of the Ukrainian ethnos, which form the basis of ethnographic science, and understand the essence and specifics of modern ethnographic discourse around the phenomena of social, material, spiritual, and mental culture of humanity. To be able to apply acquired knowledge and skills in the process of multi-aspect analysis of ethnographic substrate and ethno-cultural phenomena in value and communicative dimensions. To have the method of ethnographic analysis; elementary skills of using the terminological apparatus of ethnography for conducting research work corresponding to the first (bachelor) level.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the main aspects of the study of the ethnic history of the Ukrainian people and the factors of ethnocultural dynamics in the context of the genesis and evolution of material and spiritual culture, ethnic worldviews, ethical, aesthetic ideas and social institutions as a kind of cultural-historical type. Abstract. The educational discipline is designed to give students systematic knowledge of ethnography of Ukraine as a science that analyzes the ethnogenesis and cultural genesis of the people: its domestic and cultural features, problems of origin, resettlement and processes of cultural and domestic relations. The subject of the discipline is the historical, social and cultural experience of the ethnic group, established in traditions, customs, norms and characteristics of the forms of human life and society. The task of the discipline is aimed at forming students' professional skills in the analysis of ethnographic phenomena and processes using general scientific and special scientific methods and taking into account different contexts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course program (folkloristic component) consists of two parts: Part 1. "Ethnogenesis of Ukrainians in historical and anthropological dimensions." Part 2. "Traditionalology. Material and spiritual culture of the ethnic group. Society and man". Forms of education: lectures, seminars, scientific seminar, independent work. Throughout the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work (oral answer, supplement, report at a scientific seminar, blitz survey, participation in discussions at lectures and seminar classes, intermediate control test, credit) . A scientific seminar is held no later than the last lecture week, at which students present an independently prepared presentation on one of the topical problems of Ukrainian ethnography.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 60% of the overall assessment . Assessment of semester work: oral answer, additions, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, blitz survey, intermediate control test: 25/45 points. Scientific seminar presentation of a scientific report: 11/15 b. The overall grade for the semester consists of the points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, blitz surveys, intermediate control tests, presentation of a scientific report) and for independent work (preparation reports).
