Prerequisites and co-requisites
a) to know the peculiarities of the functioning and development of modern society, its political system and government, as well as human interaction with the socio-political institutions of modern Ukrainian society; b) to be able to collect, analyze and interpret social information on the course of various socio-political phenomena and processes by using the basic concepts and categories of sociological and political science; c) have basic skills in research programming, as well as the use of methodological tools of modern sociology and political science in the analysis of relevant socio-political information.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the basics of modern political science and to form knowledge about society, political institutions, processes and phenomena, the peculiarities of politics and power in modern societies. This discipline introduces students to the laws, forms, mechanisms and trends in the development of social life of modern society, its political system, various types of socio-political activity, the evolution of the formation and development of sociological and political science, as well as models of transformation and democratization of social systems and political regimes. In the context of this discipline, political power is analyzed as a social phenomenon, the main task of which is the development of a modern social and legal state and civil society on the basis of the wide involvement of public and political associations and democratization of all spheres of modern social life.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentation and participation in seminar discussions: 36/60 points 2. Individual work (writing an abstract or essay): 12 / 20 points All types of work for the semester have a total of - in the maximum dimension 80 points - in the minimum dimension 48 points In case of absence from the seminar, the student can work on the seminar assignment in writing or orally. 3. The final test - 12 / 20 points The final number of points in the discipline (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester and the final test. For students who have scored a total of less than the critical minimum of 60 points, it is mandatory to work on the missed topics in writing or orally to receive credit. Thus, the final grade in the discipline is a minimum of 60 and a maximum of 100 points.
