Learning outcomes
Know the essence of international portfolio investments, the IMF methodology for their identification; economic content of international investment management, the main stages of the international investment process; features and specifics of international activity and its differences from investment activity in local markets; the hypothesis of market efficiency and the main directions of its impact on international investment strategies; basic principles of forming effective and optimal portfolios, methodology for determining their risk and profitability; basic models for estimating expected returns, main differences between local market models and international models; advantages and disadvantages of international diversification of investment portfolios, the main directions of increasing its efficiency.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of general material on international finance, knowledge of basic tools of the international financial market, skills in working with electronic databases, the ability to perform simple data operations in Microsoft Excel.
Course content
Introduction to the course. International investment management and investment process. Market efficiency hypothesis. Portfolio theory. Capital asset valuation model. Arbitrage pricing theory. The essence, advantages and disadvantages of international diversification of investment portfolios. International diversification: empirical testing. International diversification through shares of small and little-known companies. Global flows of international portfolio investment in modern conditions.
