Know: Modern requirements for geological surveys on a scale of 1: 200000 and 1: 50000, requirements for the condition of geological maps, the interdependence between the optimal set of research methods, genesis and age of geological formations, principles of geological, geomorphological, structural, lithological-petrographic, geochemical , geophysical and remote mapping methods, the sequence of geological surveys. Be able to: Choose and apply the necessary methods of geological mapping, process and interpret their results, compile geological maps of different specializations.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of disciplines "General Geology", "Topography", "Structural Geology and Geographic Mapping", "Quaternary Geology with Fundamentals of Geomorphology", "Fundamentals of Petrography", "Fundamentals of Lithology", "Fundamentals of Lithology", "Geoinformatics" or "Geoinformation Technologies", "Comprehensive Geological Practice shooting ".
Course content
The main purpose of geological mapping is to create a consistent, logical model of the structure and development of the research area. The quality and reliability of such a model, in addition to the fundamental training of geologists, is determined by a set of research methods, processing and visualization of their results. The discipline is taught in the following logical sequence: general requirements for studying the geological environment for mapping → requirements for geological surveys and research methods of different genesis of geological bodies and structures → methods of processing and spatial analysis of heterogeneous geological information using specialized software.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent student work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam, with a maximum score of 40 points, a milestone score of 24 points. The semester assessment includes 3 modular tests, each of which is assessed at 10 points and practical work -30 points.
