Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it.
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of German language and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, German and English.
PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process (according to the chosen specialization).
PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should:
- Have a basic understanding of literary analysis of works of fiction.
- Be familiar with the historical conditions of Ukrainian literature development.
- Understand the genre and stylistic specifics of contemporary Ukrainian literature.
- Be aware of the coexistence of different stylistic tendencies within the contemporary literary discourse, such as realism, modernism, postmodernism, avant-garde, surrealism, magical realism, etc.
- Be acquainted with key literary concepts and be able to use them proficiently when analyzing literary works.
Course content
The aim of this discipline is to provide a professional study of the main trends in the development of contemporary Ukrainian literature and to develop students' objective scientific knowledge about the contemporary Ukrainian literary process, its ideological, thematic, and genre-specific characteristics.
The course builds upon and deepens the basic knowledge of Ukrainian literary history, including the patterns of development in the Ukrainian historical-literary process in relation to world literature and culture. It continues the systematic study of vivid contemporary literary phenomena in various styles and genres. Throughout the course, students explore the poetics of contemporary poetry, drama, novellas, novels, as well as the ideological, thematic, and genre-specific features of works by authors such as Yuriy Andrukhovych, Oksana Zabuzhko, Halyna Pahutiak, Serhiy Zhadan, Yuriy Vynnychuk, and others.

Participation in seminar discussions and providing responses during seminar sessions.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentation, contributions, and participation in seminar discussions: 21/35 points
2. Independent work (analysis, summarization of texts): 25/45 points
3. Final written exam / Creative project: 14/20 points
The final assessment in the form of an examination is determined by the total number of points obtained throughout the semester, taking into account the final written exam. The examination is based on the student's work throughout the semester and does not require additional evaluation measures.
