Prerequisites and co-requisites
A presence of educational baccalaureate is from sciences about Earth; to the geodesy and organization of the use of land; to geography, successful study of the obligatory professionally-oriented disciplines of curriculum of the first semester of the second level of higher education.
Course content
This course lays out strategy of successful management projects from introduction of GIS (by GIS-projects ). Introduction of GIS is examined from initiative in relation to small project-oriented ГІС to large corporateGIS (GIS of all enterprise). For all levels of introduction of GIS the concerted methodology of system estimation of necessities of users, determination of requirements is supported to GIS, planning of bases given, applied program development, and also own introduction, functioning and maintenance of GIS. Educational discipline of "Management GIS" is sent to fixing of theoretical knowledge from the professionally-oriented disciplines that was studied by students during the previous years of studies. Students will develop ability in planning of GIS-projects, actually planning of GIS, and also project management and his documenting. All students will improve their ability independently to obtain, to estimate and realize new knowledge and abilities in relation to GIS, putting on all of it in basis of the effective use GIS.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline consists of two content modules. The first module is devoted to the study of technologies of installation (initial) and strategic GIS design, the second - technologies of system, operational and final GIS design. Students should master the procedures for planning GIS projects by determining its scope, work schedule, estimate and resources; determine the risks of GIS projects and the possibilities of their reduction; understand the interaction between the scope, work schedule, costs, resources and quality of GIS projects; manage a current project, controlling risks and change of field; to monitor and describe the course of the current GIS project; characterize data arrays and their movement within the organization; create simple UML Class Diagrams to describe basic data structures; understand the essence and sources of errors in GIS projects; determine and characterize the sensitivity of GIS models to changes in input data.
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms and organization of assessment: current (semester) assessment (practical papers (minimum grade 24, maximum 40; control papers (6-10); independent work (5-10)); final (final) assessment in the form of an exam (assessment for knowledge theory (minimum 12, maximum 20 points); assessment for the practical part (13-20)). For students who scored a total of less points than the critical-calculated minimum - 35 points, it is necessary to pass an additionally completed individual complex task for admission to the final control form.
