Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminological and conceptual apparatus of prehistory. To know the cultural and chronological periodization of prehistory. Know the main sources of research in prehistory. Know the main cultural and chronological periods in prehistory. To be able to characterize (determine features that are characteristic and inherent) cultural-chronological stages and forms of social organization in prehistory. To be able to determine and evaluate the forms of management and the strategy of life in prehistory. Be able to determine the methods of research and reconstruction of the sources of prehistory. Be able to determine the procedures of archaeological research. Be able to analyze cultural phenomena and natural and climatic changes. To be able to find out the methods of research of cultural and chronological stages in prehistory. To be able to establish a causal relationship between archaeological sources.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting this course, students should know the main chronological eras and events in human history; the main achievements of material and spiritual culture. 2. To be able to collect and interpret information about the main processes and events of world history and the history of Ukraine; apply the basic terminology and categorical apparatus of modern history. 3. To have elementary skills of scientific research and knowledge; critical attitude and forecasting of historical events and phenomena.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СМ1) includes topics 1-4, topics 5-8 are included in content module 2 (СМ2).

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
