Learning outcomes
1. To apply the understanding of the nature and meaning of politics as a specific type of human activity to solve complex problems of political science, including the development of ideas about politics and its modern interpretations, the peculiarities of the exercise of power in various political systems, their socio-economic, historical and socio-cultural context. 2. Apply specialized conceptual knowledge of political science, which includes modern scientific achievements, is the basis for original thinking and conducting research, critical understanding of problems in the field and on the border of the fields of knowledge. 6. Critically consider the principles of the exercise of power and public policy, political institutions and processes, world politics and the politics of individual countries and regions. 7. Manage activities in the field of politics, political science and in wider contexts, develop plans and measures for their implementation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before studying this course, students should know the definitions and interpretations of the main categories and concepts of political science; content and evolution of theoretical concepts of politics; the essence and main problems of modern political life; genesis, formation and history of Ukrainian statehood; be able to collect and interpret information on phenomena and phenomena of politics, socio-political processes and events; possess basic skills of scientific research, information gathering, use of scientific sources.
Course content
The discipline "Fundamentals of Kratology" covers 11 topics, grouped into two semantic parts. The first part deals with general issues of kratology as a system of sciences of power and power relations; transformation of scientific knowledge about power at different stages of historical development; The main approaches are the interpretation of the concepts of "power" / "political power" and its form of implementation. In the second - the concept of power; the ratio of such phenomena as legality, legitimacy and effectiveness of political power; dichotomy power / politics, power / morality, power / religion, power / ethics; the latest types of power and power relations in the world, including in Ukraine.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral reports, additions, participation in the discussion are subject to evaluation at the seminars. The evaluation criteria for oral answers can be: completeness of the question; presentation logic; confidence and persuasiveness, language culture; use of basic and additional literature (monographs, textbooks, magazines, other periodicals, etc.); analytical reasoning, ability to make comparisons, conclusions. Checking the level of mastering the material of self-developed topics is carried out by writing an individual independent task, essay, synopsis of primary sources, creative work. Criteria for assessing the types of independent work are: complete disclosure of issues; integrity, systematicity, logical sequence, ability to formulate conclusions; accuracy of writing; preparation of material using various technical means
