Learning outcomes
PLO8. Know and understand the structure and history of the Russian language and be able to apply this knowledge in professional practice. PLN10. Know the norms of standard Russian and be able to apply them in practical situations. PLO12. Analyze linguistic units, identify their interactions, and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that underlie them. PLO14. Use the Russian language in spoken and written forms, across various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life. PLO17. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret facts about language and speech; interpret and accurately translate (from Russian into the native language and vice versa) spoken and written texts of various styles and genres.

Course content
The objective is to assess students’ mastery of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of the Russian language and translation, as well as their achievement of the program’s learning outcomes. During the exam, students are presented with theoretical questions on modern Russian and practical translation tasks. Students must know: the linguistic system and understand the functions of all subsystems of modern Russian; linguistic units and understand the relationships between them; the norms of modern Russian literary language; the fundamentals of translation, various types of transformations, and the conditions for creating a complete and adequate translation. Students must be able to: demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the Russian language, analyze linguistic units, identify their interactions, and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes; produce a complete and adequate translation from their native language into Russian.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The exam consists of both oral and written components and requires candidates to answer theoretical questions on lexicology, word formation, morphology, and syntax of the modern Russian language, as well as to complete a translation from their native language into Russian.
Assessment methods and criteria
Each type of task is graded on a clearly defined point scale, with a maximum total of 100 points. The oral response on Modern Russian Language is worth a total of 60 points, with 20 points for each of the three questions, as follows: Modern Russian Language: Lexicology / Word Formation – 20 points; Modern Russian: Morphology – 20 points; Modern Russian: Syntax – 20 points. Written translation task from the native language into Russian – 40 points. Specific grading criteria are provided in the course syllabus.
