Learning outcomes
PLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, identify their interactions, and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that underlie them. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Russian and foreign fiction, identifying their distinctive features and place within the literary canon. PLO 14. Use the Russian language in spoken and written form, across various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life. PLO25. Organize the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language, taking into account appropriate teaching methodologies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Be proficient in Russian at a level sufficient to read literary texts; understand the distinctive features of the literary style of the Russian language; be familiar with the fundamentals of teaching Russian as a foreign language. 2. Be able to work with Russian-language texts: read, comprehend the meaning, analyze the structure, and use dictionaries and other reference materials to clarify unclear points.
Course content
The course aims to improve students’ skills in reading and comprehending Russian-language literary texts and to teach methods for working with literary texts in a foreign-language classroom. The course provides an overview of the purpose and specific features of using literary works in the teaching of Russian as a foreign language at various stages of language proficiency; It introduces the basic principles of effective work with literary texts: the principles and techniques of selection, the purpose and methods of adaptation, areas of linguistic and pedagogical analysis, and the creation of a system of tasks aimed at overcoming linguistic, cultural, and lexical-grammatical difficulties and developing the communicative competence of non-native speakers. The course is also aimed at improving reading and comprehension skills in Russian-language literary texts and, based on this, developing skills and abilities in all other types of speech activity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical sessions, and independent study. Teaching methods: explanation of new material, independent study of academic literature and works of fiction, discussion, debate, independent development of exercises based on literary texts, group discussion of these exercises, and their testing within the group.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses, participation in discussions, group projects, essays, written assignments, and module exams. Specific grading criteria are outlined in the course syllabus.
