Learning outcomes
PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies, particularly to solve complex specialized tasks and problems in professional practice. PLO 15. Conduct linguistic and pre-translation analysis of texts of various styles and genres.PLO17. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret linguistic data; interpret and accurately translate (from Russian into the native language and vice versa) spoken and written texts of various styles and genres. PLO 18. Possess the skills to manage complex activities or projects when solving complex problems in professional practice in the field of translation and take responsibility for decision-making in unpredictable conditions. PLO 22. Apply knowledge of history and regional studies to facilitate successful communication in Ukrainian and Russian and ensure accurate translation. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the theoretical and practical Russian language courses taught during the first through sixth semesters of study (“Practical Russian Grammar,” “Practical Russian Phonetics,” “Oral Communication,” “Written Communication,” “Guided Reading of Academic Texts,” “Practical Course in Russian,” “Modern Russian Language (Lexicology. Phraseology. Lexicography. Word Formation. Morphology)”, “Introduction to Translation Studies”; “Practical Written and Oral Translation” (taught in previous semesters). 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics, skills in written and oral translation from Russian into the native language and vice versa.
Course content
The course aims to provide students with a professional understanding of translation as a comprehensive linguistic discipline; to help them understand the role of translation in the teaching of Russian as a foreign language and to teach them methods for developing translation skills and competencies; to foster an understanding of translation as a means of stimulating language use; to develop skills and abilities for the substantive analysis of texts of various genres, and to improve written and oral translation skills in communicative situations within the professional and educational spheres of communication, which will contribute to mastery of the language in all areas of communicative activity. The course is also aimed at stimulating speech activity and developing the practical skills of written and oral translation necessary in communicative situations across various contexts and spheres of communication.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes, independent study. Teaching methods: problem-based learning. Theoretical and practical teaching methods. Explanatory, illustrative, and demonstration methods (explanation, observation, analysis of linguistic units within the system). Independent work: searching for texts on a given topic, analyzing texts in the source language, independent work with academic literature, collecting and analyzing information for translation. Independent work with text materials and reference literature, online translation tools, collecting and analyzing information for translation, analyzing mistakes made.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral responses, pre-translation text analysis, analysis of teaching materials on translation, creation of translation exercises, independent written translations, editing of translated texts, and modular exams. Specific assessment criteria are outlined in the course syllabus.
