Learning outcomes
Know: understanding of physical properties of rocks, features o deformation development in them; un-derstanding of classification of ore columns, definition of factors of their control
Be able to: skills to define features of localization of ore bodies and ore columns; skills to analyze ore-controlling structural elements, to define their morphology, amplitudes of displacement, etc.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
know: the main physical properties of rocks, the patterns of deformation development in them; structural elements of ore fields and deposits, such as folded forms and discontinuous faults, ore-bearing intrusive massifs, ore-bearing volcanic structures; the main types of deposits, their classification; be able to: de-termine the patterns of localization of ore bodies and ore pillars; determine the morphology of folds and the mechanism of their formation; determine the direction and amplitude of displacement along discon-tinuous faults; perform graphic constructions and determine the elements of the occurrence of lines of intersection of cracks intersecting at different angles, of layers and cracks, etc.
Course content
The discipline is based on general principles of structural analysis, provides students with information about structural and geological positions and structures of typical ore fields, deposits and ore bodies of different classes and genetic groups. Aim of teaching discipline - students should master methods of re-searches of structures of ore fields and deposits, especially those that makes it possible to do structural modelling which assist to reveal features of localization of mineralization. Objects of teaching discipline - students should understand and master in practice methods of structural modelling which assist to do mineralization forecast. Students can apply the received knowledge in practical work of geologist-specialist in geology of mineral deposits.
